Since 2014
The organisation launched in July 2014 with the support of high profile British businesses, founding patrons including Jardines, Prudential and Standard Chartered Bank.
Their own board page records a lineage from that launch: its current Director UK, Peter Crowhurst, became a founding director and later Chief Executive, a post he held until January 2024, before its present Chief Executive, Jessica Myint, took over on 1 July 2025.
Twelve directors and a Chief Executive
Every director and the Chief Executive, as the Chamber publishes them on its own board page, each with the photograph they publish. Board directors also hold senior roles at KBZ Bank, Standard Chartered’s Myanmar representative office, Prudential Myanmar Life Insurance, Myanma Awba Group and DKSH, among the companies each names on that same page.

Since joining in January 2024, Ian has led BCCM with great resilience and unwavering commitment in a challenging operating environment. Under his leadership, the Chamber has hosted over 150 events, trainings, workshops and working group meetings, ensuring that our 220 members had meaningful opportunities to network, influence and engage.
What the chamber does for UK companies
Delivered through the UK Government’s Overseas Partner Delivery initiative, which seeks to transform the support available for British SMEs seeking to do business in high growth and hard to access markets.
The British Chamber of Commerce Myanmar is part of an overseas global network of Chambers and works closely with the British Embassy and Department for International Trade in Myanmar. The Chamber provides practical, business to business, on the ground support services for interested UK companies, promoting trade and investment opportunities and helping establish links in Myanmar.
Companies applying for these chargeable services must have an active UK trading address, including UK based businesses investing or looking to invest overseas, foreign owned businesses based in the UK, and qualifying not for profit organisations and charities.
